ABOUT

Benjamin Weller--also known as "Spinner" online--is a writer currently studying for his BA in Professional Writing from Champlain College in Vermont. He has written three novels as practice, including drafts of both Hellion and Shadower (completed in 2005 and 2006 respectively), and several short stories. He is currently experimenting with the internet as a means of publication.

A new Mac user, Ben does all of his writing on his Macbook Pro in the many Burlington coffee houses, where he finds it easiest to concentrate. He can usually be seen drinking some kind of tea and munching happily on a scone while savagely wasting binary code on one of his many projects. When he stares out the window for long periods of time, it is best to avoid his eyes as they are capable of shooting lasers.

Among Ben's sources of inspiration are the works of Hayao Miyazaki, Phillip Pullman, Matt Page, Ridley Scott, Fred Gallagher, Orson Scott Card, Herman Melville, Nathaniel Hawthorne, Yoshitoshi ABe and Opeth's "Damnation" album. He is also inspired by other music, mental images and really random dreams.

When he isn't writing, Ben is either making lattes at Starbucks, puttering about in Adobe Photoshop, or banging his head to some kind of metal. His vices include music, sushi and hot-wings, techno-gadgetry and Wikipedia. If Ben wasn't a writer, he says he would either be a musician or an airline pilot.

Ben is currently working on Lanternfly, the first book in the Hellion series. Among his other active projects are Cloudnigh and Shadower. He keeps a woefully whiny blog, found here, and works as a writing mod at Inheritance Forums (IF).

If you need to contact Ben (who is through with referring to himself in the third person), you may do so at the contact page.
